Original Mighty Mouse and Mighty Heroes Opening and Closing Sequence
As if we all aren't constantly wowed by you tube - here is an old dub of the opening and closing sequences Bakshi directed as a kid when he created The Mighty Heroes. In this section the Mighty Heroes and Mighty Mouse are the bestest of buddies. Amazing! Bakshi brought them back together for a reunion again in the New Adventures of Mighty Mouse in 88. Enjoy!
One of Bakshi's all time favorite and most impressionable cartoonists is Zimmerman. His passion falls short of a lifelong obsession. If you don't already...get to know Zim a little .....
Ralph Bakshi on Eugene Zimmerman:
"Eugene Zimmerman is one of the finest cartoon draftsman that ever held a pencil. His exaggerations and caricatures are always hysterically funny and true. Long before Mad comics - Zim was drawing better then Wally Wood and Jack Davis. His watercolors , black & white washes, Pen & Ink's work showed extraordinary facility in every medium. Along with Robert Frost, Kemble, and TS Sullivant, he is all pure American Cartooning. There is so much he could teach a cartoonist, it's endless."
From ASIFA:
"In 1967, right after he had resigned as the head of the Paramount cartoon studio, Ralph and his wife Liz were walking through Brooklyn when they saw a sign on an old house advertising an estate sale. They went inside, but it was late in the day and there wasn't much left. Ralph glanced up at a tall bookcase and saw a pile of pamphlets stacked up on a high shelf. It was too high to reach, so he didn't bother to look at them. As they were walking out the door, he got the feeling that he needed to go back and look at the pamphlets. It was a good hunch. The stack contained a nearly complete set of Zim's correspondence course in cartooning. He asked the estate agent how much they cost, and was told $50. That was more than he and his wife had in their pockets, so Liz volunteered to run home and get the money. The Zim books were on his desk every day throughout the production of Fritz the Cat, Heavy Traffic and especially Coonskin. This set is Ralph's most prized possession, and now he is sharing them with the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive." Clipped from ASIFA Animation Archive - Thank You Steve!

Milton Knight did some character designing on Cool World for Ralph. "He was great for 'populating scenes' with the more old fashioned characters. He did crowds, incidentals, background characters. He is a very good cartoonist and did quite well - I was very pleased"

This was just discovered on eBay being sold for $329.99. It's a very rare pre production design poster concept. We're looking into the origins of this poster, since even we aren't exactly sure. Update later.
I am currently attending Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood, CA
and am enrolled in Alex Alvarex's Creature/Character class.
The purpose of the class is to create characters or creatures based on other artists
concepts.
Being a fan of Wizards, I thought it would be really fun to make Peace and his Horse
in 3D.
I decided to use the illustration by William Stout rather than the original poster,
and the movie was playing for inspiration through the 4 weeks that it took me to
model/texture/and light the piece. : )
I hope you enjoy!

“Opposites attract. Opposites attack.”
Herakut is a collaboration of the aliases Hera and Akut, two graffiti artists from Frankfurt and Erfurt.
Working together since they met in 2004, they combine contrasting styles of both spray paint and traditional painting methods in their highly stylised street works. Often after a background done by Hera, Akut creates a detailed layer for a face without knowing what kind of body Hera will add. The mixing of the two very different styles often result in the finished piece being slightly schizophrenic. A truly amazing duo.
