Born and raised in Indiana, Thomas Hargis is an active cinematographer and still photographer. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Cinema/Television and has served as Director of Photography on numerous feature films, short films and commercials. He has received several cinematography awards, including for his work on “The Book and the Rose,” which was shortlisted for the 2003 Academy Award for Best Short – Live Action. Hargis lives in Los Angeles where he continues to roam the Southern California landscape with his camera.
His first public gallery exhibition, Utopia Misplaced, is December 6th through December 27th at GALLERY 143 (530 South Hewitt Street, Barker Block – Suite 143, Los Angeles, CA 90013). This exhibition showcases Hargis’ work in HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography. HDR is a photographic technique that produced images with a tonal range greater than conventional photography.
